Dr. Gohar A. Sheikh, DC
Dr. Gohar Sheikh is the Director and driving force behind Elign Health Centre. The concept for a clinic based on this unified approach to “Chiro Health” grew naturally out of his long and successful practice.
Dr. Sheikh has distinguished himself since his earliest training. After studying Human Biology (Honors) at McMaster University, Dr. Sheikh was accepted to early admission at Toronto‘s prestigious Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.
He attained his Doctorate of Chiropractic and also received the coveted Dr. Ron King Award for clinical excellence.
Dr. Sheikh also volunteered Medical Services with the World Health Organisation in Sri Lanka, during the height of the Civil War. While there, he was certified in Traditional Acupuncture and Homeopathy from the International Institute of Medicine. In the mid-1990s, Dr. Sheikh first began private practice in East Vancouver, moving it later to Broadway & Cambie, and finally to Burnaby.
Dr. Sheikh has had the privilege and pleasure of serving not just individuals but their entire families, from students to business leaders, amateur and pro athletes, newborns and seniors, as well as expectant moms.
While operating his practice, Dr. Sheikh has rigorously maintained his own ongoing education, keeping up with the latest developments in Chiropractic and related fields.
With many leading experts and authorities, he has studied extensively in Applied Kinesiology, Torque Release Technique, Activator Methods, Cranio-sacral and Chiropractic Biophysics Techniques.
This ongoing study enables Dr. Sheikh and his team to provide the individualized care that best suits each practice member.
This continued learning goes in both directions: Dr. Sheikh has taught workshops and lectures throughout Greater Vancouver and been a featured speaker with Anthony Robbins, Fitness World, Plaza 500 Hotel, Canadian Justice Institute, and Numerous Community Events.
He has been featured covering holistic health and related matters in local media, newspapers and on television. Dr. Sheikh has appeared as a regular feature on Vancouver Television and as Health & Wellness Expert for CTV Vancouver. Since 1996, Dr. Sheikh has worked extensively with the Vancouver Film Industry.
Working in both a consulting capacity and direct treatment, his clients have included actors, directors, producers, stunt experts, support staff and special effects people.
His name has appeared in the credits for numerous films. Dr. Sheikh's passion is his family and his community.
He has competed in the various downhill and cross country mountain bike events, including the Canada Cup, and enjoys travelling, camping, hiking, and teaching.
Dr. Taemin (Tim) Kang, DC
Dr. Tim Kang graduated with Clinical Honors from Life Chiropractic College West in California in 2017. He pursued chiropractic education with the passion for health care and the human body that he developed while completing his Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology degree at Simon Fraser University.
Upon finishing his chiropractic education, he provided chiropractic service to the community of San Diego until he decided to come back home to Vancouver.
Dr. Kang is excited to be working with the Elign team alongside Dr. Sheikh since the health clinic provides excellence and variety in service to help people achieve the best health they can experience.
Dr. Kang originally grew up in Kerrisdale in Vancouver and enjoys playing soccer in various leagues around the city.
Kinesiologist
Ignacio Casal, BKin
Ignacio is a Registered Kinesiologist and graduate of University of British Columbia. But you can call him Nacho!
Ignacio’s main interests include hiking at 4am, going for long runs, listening to K-Pop, and spending quality time with his two cats – Vodka and Dorito.
Hoping to get certified this year, he looks forward to being able to provide Laser Therapy care as well.
Laser Therapist
Alain Dalida
Alain Dalida is a Certified Laser Therapist. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in the Philippines, majoring in Physical Therapy.
Before coming to Canada in 2011, Alain worked in an acute care hospital in Florida and also in an outpatient clinic as a Physical Therapist. He would go on to be promoted to Department Director later on.
Alain first started working with Dr. Sheikh in the April of 2012 and got his laser certification with Biolfex Systems for Low-Level Intensity Laser Therapy.
In his spare time, he enjoys road cycling and cross-country mountain biking.
Registered Massage Therapist
Vanessa de Rooy, RMT
Vanessa de Rooy graduated from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy in 2014 and has been part of the Elign team ever since.
Vanessa believes that massage is an effective and enjoyable way to treat a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and address the body as a whole.
She uses numerous techniques based on the needs of each patient, including myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, neuromuscular technique, Neurokinetic therapy, Swedish massage and assisted stretching.
In her free time, Vanessa enjoys hiking, biking and CrossFit-style classes at her favourite gym.
Registered Massage Therapist
Naomi Kajiwara, RMT
Naomi is a dedicated and compassionate massage therapist with a keen interest in how the body moves. Naomi is a graduate of the Registered Massage Therapy program at Vancouver College of Massage Therapy and has her Bachelors of Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia.
Both certifications, along with her performing arts career in dance and taiko drumming, complement her passion for the science and art of human anatomy and the body’s many systems.
Her background in kinesiology, occupational experiences and RMT education has enabled her to better understand the various conditions the human body can present, be it dis-function, pain and stress management, or rehabilitation.
Naomi provides quality therapeutic (orthopedic and relaxation) massages that are customized and communicated to each of her patient’s health needs with goals to improve quality of life.
Clinical experience includes Swedish and deep tissue techniques, myofascial release, joint mobilizations, neuromuscular therapy, trigger point release, sports massage, Instrument-assisted Soft Tissue Mobilizations (IASTM), active and passive release/stretching, and breathing techniques.
Registered Massage Therapist
Tamara Tymrick, RMT
Tamara is a new graduate from West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) preparing to complete the College of Massage Therapists of the British Columbia Board Examination and become a fully licensed Registered Massage Therapist.
Her diverse life experiences provide her valuable insight into the complex function of the human body.
Tamara has been a basketball and soccer coach for youth, a team athlete (volleyball), and studied Kinesiology and Biology courses at Simon Fraser University.
From Tamara’s athletic-based background, her experiences at SFU and providing student massage services at the WCCMT clinic, she has learned how to incorporate and apply her knowledge to further benefit treatment with her clients.
Tamara’s practice is focused on rehabilitative, and management of chronic musculoskeletal dysfunction, along with relaxation massage.
Tamara combines detailed assessment, a variety of massage techniques including deep tissue massage, trigger point and myofascial release with individualized homecare to treat her clients.
Whether you want to alleviate pain, improve range of motion, or just simply unwind, Tamara personalizes every treatment to your specific needs.
